Chris DeRose

 Chris DeRose holds a Bachelor’s degree in Jazz Studies and a Masters in Music Theory from the University of North Texas. Chris taught Jazz studies and theory at UTA and UTD and was the Dallas Symphony’s guitarist for 35 years. She has performed with many artists, including Willie Nelson, the Pointer Sisters, Nancy Wilson, Andrea Bocelli, and Michael Feinstein, among others.

Chris has been a member of jazz groups such as the Lou Fischer Rehearsal Band, the Collection Jazz Orchestra, Them Bones, and Strata. Chris fronts the Chris DeRose Quartet and was featured in the May 2012 and Feb 2013 issues of “Just Jazz Guitar” magazine. Published works include “Stylistic Etudes in the Jazz Idiom”, 1988 Hal Leonard Publishing. And “Jazz Styles and Techniques: A Primer for the Ensemble Guitarist”. 

Kelly Durbin

Raised in St. Louis, Kelly Durbin has been a Denton resident since 1978. He has performed with Woody Herman’s Orchestra, David “Fathead” Newman, Marchel Ivery, and many others. A graduate of North Texas, he’s an Associate Professor of Instruction at UT Dallas, where he teaches jazz performance, jazz history, and digital music. He studied piano at UNT with Dan Haerle, Steve Harlos, and Bob Rogers, and was named the Sammons Jazz Artist of the Year in 2018.
