Fall in Love with Jazz: Whitney James is back at Steve’s with her fall-themed concert, Fall in Love with Jazz. Featuring original arrangements of standards that pay tribute to this most colorful and cozy season. Selections include Autumn Nocturne, Lullaby of the Leaves, September in the Rain, and When October Goes, and many more. Whitney will be joined by pianist Michael Clement, bassist Kai Wagner. James studied musical theater and opera before falling in love with the music of Sarah Vaughan and pursuing a career singing and teaching jazz voice. Whitney is a masterful storyteller with a quick wit, warm presence, and deeply emotive, colorful voice. In 2022, Whitney received her master’s degree in jazz studies from the University of North Texas. James was one of thirteen jazz musicians heralded as “Legends in the Making” and in 2012 was featured on Marian McPartland’s Piano Jazz: Rising Stars on NPR Radio hosted by Jon Weber. Join us for an evening of pure jazz and pure joy!
